General Information
What is the First-Year Odyssey Seminar requirement?
All first-year undergraduate students who matriculate fall semester 2011 and thereafter must successfully complete one First-Year Odyssey Seminar by the end of the first year in residence. This policy excludes transfer students.

Every school on campus has faculty teaching FYO seminars.

No, some faculty will teach on a different schedule. For example, a seminar may meet for a 2-hour class period once a week for half a semester or for a 1-hour class period twice a week for half a semester to accommodate the seminar content.

The First-Year Odyssey Seminar will have A-F grading.

A grade of D is considered passing for all UGA courses. This is true for the seminars also.

Seats in seminars will be made available gradually throughout the summer.

This requirement is for incoming first-year students and will not apply to transfer students.

No, there are other seminars for honors students, but honors students will take an FYO seminar in addition to honors seminars.

Yes. Students are eligible to apply for the Honors Program as long as they have 15 hours (14 of which are graded A-F) and their cumulative University of Georgia GPA is at least a 3.75. Since FYOS 1001 is graded A-F, it counts.
